How are YOU? I know this has been one seriously crazy year, and I think it’s important to check in to see how you’re doing.

2020’s unexpected happenings have impacted all of our plans (including mine!). Moving to Australia can feel challenging at the best of times, but now it can feel even more challenging than ever.

Please don’t let what is happening around the world detract you from following your dream though. Yes, the news right now can feel depressing. Yes, visa processing has slowed. Yes, travel is highly restricted and quarantine processes are in place when you arrive in Australia…

But I would love for you to shift your perspective. Instead of focusing on what isn’t working and the things you can’t do, turn it around. What CAN you be doing right now to take steps towards moving to Australia to create a life you love?

A massive part of creating a life you love in Australia is about your mindset. It’s about taking responsibility for what you’re creating in life and not blaming others or blaming outside situations for how you feel inside and how your life looks. Now is a testing time, but it’s actually the perfect time to start applying these mindset principles to your life as they will stand you in great stead when the time comes to make the move.

You’ve gained some time with this delay. Don’t waste it binge-watching old episodes of Wanted Down Under or re-reading old travel magazines – as fun as that is to do, it’s important to use this time for something constructive, too.

You can use the rest of 2020 and early 2021 to…

  • Get organised
  • Plan your move
  • Make decisions
  • Do your research
  • Ask questions
  • Network with potential employers
  • Declutter and redecorate ready to get your house on the market
  • Set goals
  • Get quotes
  • Create a vision board
  • Learn new things
  • Be inspired to dream about your new life…

This spare time wasn’t planned, but try to think of it in a positive way. Now you have heaps more time to get organised and spread out your emigration to-do list so you’re not rushing through it all at 100 miles an hour like I did when we moved. If you get organised now, you’ll be in the best possible position to hit the ground running when migration begins to move again (and it will, because Australia NEEDS migrants for its economy).
