The other day I was at this beach at lunchtime. As we were unloading the car, I saw lots of groups of guys get out of their vans, grab their fold out chairs and unpack their cool bags full of lunch. 🌊 🏝 ☀️ Literally, the shady grassy area was filled with lines of trades workers (or tradies as they are known in Australia) tucking into their Vegemite sarnies all facing this view. If you aren’t from Sheffield in the UK, the chances are you’ve never seen or heard of it before. We enjoyed British fish and chips from @chumleywarners at #Birkdale on our way home from our holiday yesterday. We had a feast for our waterside picnic! It’s so good having some many traditional British chippies around (@greatbritishfryernorthlakes in North Lakes is our local and we also love @thefryerofwhitby on the Sunny Coast too). What a stunning winter’s day it has been today on the #GoldCoast🏝
The kids built sandcastles for hours. It was difficult to drag ourselves away but it was time to go home from our short break.
For someone who HATES being cold 🥶, I think I’ve found the perfect place to enjoy year-round sunshine 🌴 😎 Just look how empty the beach is behind me in the pic - on a patrolled surf beach during the school holidays! (Admittedly it was quieter than usual because of border restriction being in place for a few more days but still it was crazy quiet). This is 1.5 hrs south from where we live. An hour north of where we live takes you to the stunning #SunshineCoast. We really are spoilt for choice in this part of Australia with so many amazing beaches on our doorstep!

Another day, another pool. This time I enjoyed the adults-only one while the others played tennis 🎾 and putt putt ⛳️ (crazy golf for the non-Aussies out there). I could have spent a few hours here but then the kids descended to the pool gate and it was time for the peace and quiet to end! That blue sky though 💕. Queensland holiday vibes 🌴It goes so dark here so early. Doesn’t stop the kids from swimming though. I’m wrapped in their towels to stay warm as they are whizzing down the water slide 💦 I can’t wait for summer to come back - I miss balmy summer nights - but a heated pool in winter keeps them happy and entertained. #queensland #thisisqueensland #movetoqueensland #goldcoast #nightswimming

I love holidays! The kids are enjoying the pools and waterslides. Hubby and me are sitting next to the pool on sunbeds in fleeces and clutching our coffees and books! It’s about 18 degrees at the moment so it feels a little bit chilly to me (luckily the pools are heated but the water park is FREEZING apparently!)! ☀️ 🥶 What do you like to do on holidays?
